I grew up 'here' - in Colorado - and moved away a long time ago - leaving behind, the music that had been part of my growing up. The rhythms of Spencer Davis, the soul of Odetta, the melodies of Joni Mitchell. When I finally came back home I began the journey of a hand-made life. "We are the music makers - and the dreamers of dreams." Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka) was quoting Arthur O'Shaughnessy when he said that and I believe it can be true for all of us - in one form or another.
The harmony and rhythms inside of me started in third grade (at least that's when I first recall). And my music was and is the rhythm of those drums I started playing when I was 8 years old. The years 'in between' my childhood and coming home created a new dimension in the words, music, and feel of what I started to write. The blending of Imogen Heap, David Wilcox, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, and my friends - Matthew Andrae and Rebecca Folsom. I invite you in.
"Yours is not to seek for love. But merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself - you have built against it." Rumi
We all came together (a full house - of us) to celebrate what Albert Einstein said -- "There are only two ways to live life. One is as if nothing is a miracle, and the other is as if everything is a miracle." I subscribe to the latter. So, we acknowledged the four major miracles of the week:
The celebration of Easter The celebration of Passover
The celebration of Earth Day The celebration of the fact that Mercury is no longer in retrograde
Eight singer songwriters brought a wide range of musical gifts to the Rock 'n Soul Cafe on September 25th, 2010.
And it was all hosted by the very remarkable Rebecca Folsom. All photos are provided by Lisa Siciliano at Dogdaze photo
People came to 11:11 Wellness Center on The Hill - and listened to songs from a healing heart and soul about hope, courage, and serenity. Adversity does have the ability to give you gifts, if you can only recognize them. We all laughed and stopped, for a while, to "be - here - now". You are always invited - so come join us next time.

The drive to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch each day was a gift that helped frame the day. Unfortunately I could not camp at the fairgrounds since I was teaching in Denver - juggling the teaching of the Adobe Creative Suite and Color theory with writing songs among a unique and special community of artists. Thank you to all my friends and Music Makers for an extraordinary experience.
